Ted Hoffman - Founder + CEO

Ted Hoffman was born and raised in Rochester, New York. Upon graduating from Syracuse University, he moved to Manhattan and built a career working on Wall Street as an equity trader. A born risk-taker, in 2008, Ted left everything familiar to him and relocated to Dallas where he started a hedge fund. It was in Texas that Ted found the inspiration for FLY.

An entrepreneur at heart, Ted was always on the look-out for a side hustle he could be passionate about. After befriending a local hairstylist, Ted immersed himself into understanding the salon industry business. And when he came across a 1969 Airstream for sale, Ted saw an opportunity to provide a unique experience to the traditional barbershop and seized it.

Taking on a significant amount of build-out himself, within months the Airstream was transformed into a barbershop on wheels, one of the first of its kind. While FLY Barbershop was flourishing, Ted quickly saw the potential to complement the spirit of the Airstream, with a grooming portfolio that offered a fresh, yet classic style of products.

Drawing on his financial background and entrepreneurial spirit, Ted set out to transition FLY Barbershop into a lifestyle brand. With the help of his team, Ted collaborated with experts in formulation and design who understood his vision, and the first product, FLY No. 1 pomade was born.

Today, Ted has put his financial career on hold, making FLY his main focus.  A passion project turned into reality, FLY ‘s line of products includes pomade, shaving cream, and even a candle.

When not creating the next product to expand FLY’s portfolio, you’ll likely find Ted boxing at his favorite gym, mountain biking in Colorado, or even climbing Kilimanjaro!
